February 14-28 - So...What About Faith?

I have never been a deeply religious person, but I’ve always believed there is something or someone greater than myself. I think we are all here for a reason—each of us has value and a purpose. It’s not always easy to articulate, but this belief shapes the way I view life and my place in it. I liken it to the Ted Lasso BELIEVE sign. Believing in something or having Faith.

Faith has always been a quiet, steady presence in my life—not something I shout about, but something that grounds me and helps me navigate the world. I admire people who are deeply rooted in their faith, whatever form that may take. Faith can be a powerful and beautiful thing when it’s genuine and uplifting. That said, I’ve also struggled with practices that feel cultish or extreme. (And yes, Natalie, I’ve seen my fair share of documentaries on that subject!)

For me, faith looks different. This past year, I began dedicating intentional “me time” in the mornings before work, and it’s been transformative for my mental health and overall well-being. My routine is simple but meaningful: I settle into my recliner with a fresh cup of coffee, a Nature’s Bakery fig bar, my phone for a daily devotional (no social media during this time!), and my Kindle. Depending on when I wake up, I spend anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour and a half in this peaceful solitude.

During this time, I read Joyce Meyer’s daily devotional and then I read whatever book I am enjoying at the time for about 45 min to an hour. The TV is off and I have my alone time with a dog on my lap or at my side. This quiet, reflective start to my day has become a cornerstone of my faith and mental clarity. It’s in these moments of stillness that I feel most connected—to myself, to my purpose, and to something greater.

Faith, for me, is also about maintaining a positive outlook and trusting that “this too shall pass.” Life comes with its share of challenges, and I’ve experienced my fair share of tough times. There have been moments when I’ve had to confront negative patterns, dig deep, and choose to believe in the possibility of better days ahead. This, in itself, feels like an act of faith—a belief in resilience and renewal.

Faith doesn’t have to involve reading the Bible, attending church, or praying in a traditional sense. It can be about serving others, journaling, or finding inspiration in quotes or stories that keep you grounded. It’s about connection—to yourself, to others, and to something bigger than us all. As you might have seen on my Instagram and Facebook stories, I have also been posting inspirational quotes and super cute people dancing and owning their vibes. This is also Faith, to me!

As I’ve reflected on my own journey, I’ve learned that faith isn’t a one-size-fits-all concept. It’s deeply personal and constantly evolving. What anchors you in your day-to-day life?

Whether it’s a morning routine, a shared meal, or a moment of quiet reflection, I hope you find something that brings you peace and purpose.

What are you reading? I am finishing a book titled "Frankie" by Graham Norton and "Demon Copperhead" by Barbara Kingsolver.
